My Review

Heartstopper is a graphic novel by Alice Oseman. Fittingly, I absolutely love this book! It is a beautiful story, and one that I can’t get enough of! I must have reread this book about 15 times!

The graphic novel tells the beautiful story of Nick and Charlie in pictures. Their relationship starts with simple greetings in their form room at school, but quickly becomes something more. Charlie thinks that there is no way that Nick Nelson could be interested in him, but Nick certainly is. After an altercation with another boy, Nick and Charlie become friends and it goes from there. Their love story is so sweet, but also full of challenges, from Nick still figuring things out to homophobic bullies, they manage to deal with it together.

There are also many different storylines and relationships going on at the same time. Tao and Elle. Darcy and Tara. I love all three of these couples and other supporting characters like Nellie (Nick’s dog),Tori, Oliver and Nick’s mum. There are definitely characters that I really don’t like as they are homophobic and unkind, such as the school bully, Harry Greene.

The book is also very diverse. It has characters engaged in same sex relationships, characters of all different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and the book deals with things like bullying and mental illnesses.

Overall, this book is incredible and one of my favourites, and I love the relationships between the main characters in the story, but it deals with some heavy subjects, so be advised going into it. This book definitely belongs on the shelf with Daisy Jones and Evelyn Hugo, and also deserves 5 stars.

Have you read Heartstopper?

If not, don’t forget to add it to your TBR list!

Happy reading!

My ratings are based on my own personal opinions and are subjective.

5 stars I can’t wait to reread it. Definitely belongs on my top shelf! Highly recommend.

4 stars A great read. Lots of great qualities but just missing the cherry on top. Belongs on my middle shelf. Would recommend.

3 stars  A good read but lacked the wow factor. I liked the book but probably won’t reread it. Relegated to the bottom shelf.

2 stars  Not good but not completely bad. Lacked personality for me. Safe to say I won’t be reading it again. Donate to the charity shop.

1 star  A dull read. This book has no place on my bookshelf. Borrow from the library, if you must.

DNF: I did not finish reading this book. It was just not for me.

Hi there!

I’m Kate and I’m an avid teen reader. I’ve been a bookworm for as long as I can remember. But my love for books goes beyond just reading them – I’ve helped out at the school library, co-hosted a book club, and even wrote a few reviews for the school magazine. And now, I’ve decided to start my own book blog! Why, you ask? Well, firstly, I want to up my digital game. And secondly, I want to share my passion for reading with others and help them find their next favourite read. I’ll be dishing out book reviews, recommendations, and character analyses to help you discover new worlds, one page at a time. I do hope you’ll join me on the journey!
