About Kate
Hi! I’m Kate and I’m an avid teen reader. I’ve loved books and reading my whole life! For the last few years, I’ve gotten interested in books in other ways than just reading them. I’ve helped out the school librarian, co-hosted a book club and even had a few book reviews published in a school magazine, so I thought it would be great to start a book blog! There are several reasons why. One is that I want to learn better digital skills, and another is that I want to spread the joys of reading with others! I want to help people find books they love so that hopefully, the reading community grows. From book recommendations to character analysis articles, I hope to unlock a world of reading for those who before, were not fond of it, and enhance it for those who already are. I do hope that you’ll join me on this journey! Unlocking new worlds, one page at a time.
I’m not just a massive book nerd, though! I also have a few hobbies I enjoy. As everyone who knows me will tell you, I’m a massive (and I mean MASSIVE) history nerd. History is so fascinating. I believe that we need to study the past to continue moving forward. Although I love learning about everything historical, I do have a few absolute favourites to study. These are American history, particularly the American Revolution, the presidents and the country’s role in World War II, British history, Spanish history and The French Revolution. I just love to learn about all areas of history. Did you know that Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes is cited as the first modern novel?
I also do my own podcast on Spanish history con mi brillante profesor de español, or for those of you who didn’t quite catch that, with my brilliant Spanish teacher. I also love musicals, my favourites being the historical ones, those being Six and Hamilton I also love baking and love listening to music or historical documentaries while doing so. One of my favourite things to bake is a lemon drizzle cake. I also enjoy writing my own stories and poetry, and even won awards for my writing! I am also a part of the Debate club at my school and really enjoy it.

I am also a huge Harry Potter fan! I absolutely love the wizarding world and would gladly immerse myself in it for hours. I must have read the books about 9 times by now! My favourite books from the series are The Prisoner of Azkaban and the Order of the Phoenix. I do enjoy watching the movies, but in my opinion, books are always better than the film adaptations. I think that my favourite movies are the first three, and every time I watch The Chamber of Secrets I forget just how good it is! This may be a bit of a controversial opinion, but I’m not a huge fan of the 5th and 6th movies. To be honest, I’m not a fan of how they added a lot more teenage romance and comedy to the 6th film, not to mention the burning of the burrow. That never even happened in the books! And now they’ve created an unfinished plotline. And again, to be completely honest, I don’t quite like how they handled the ministry in the 5th film. I enjoyed exploring the different rooms in the ministry and seeing the chaos of the battle unfold in said rooms. Anyway, that’s enough ranting about the movies!
Lastly, I also have a dog who I love beyond anything else, even books! Here is a picture of my adorable chorkie (a cross between a Chihuahua and a Yorkshire Terrier), Beatrix (Yes, like Beatrix Potter). So, here are a couple of pictures of her reading a poem about herself! Well, not reading, but looking at it.

Now that you know a little bit about me, I’ll explain why I wanted to start this blog. I’ve always loved reading, but I know that’s not the case for everyone. While I definitely did set it up for those who love reading and are passionate about it like myself, I also did it for those who don’t enjoy reading so much, or those who want to, but don’t know where to start or don’t know what to read. That’s something that people have told me, but also something I’ve witnessed among my family, friends and school. If you decide to stick around and follow me, you’ll see a wide variety of content on here. Of course, there will be book reviews, but there will also be book recommendations, character analysis articles, book-to-film reviews and so much more! I really hope you stick around and enjoy my blog!
Discovering new worlds, one page at a time!
Happy reading!
